Bachlorette Weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally fully recovered from my bachlorette weekend. I can't believe it has come and gone though. I looked fowared to it for months. It was so perfect though, my friends went above and beyond to make the weekend no less than perfect. We got to Destin on Thursday afternoon, and I was told immediatly to leave so they could decorate. After shopping around for a few hours I came back to the cutest pink and green decor ever seen. It was exactly how I imagined the weekend to be. The first night we went to this little night life area and had dinner and drinks. The restuarant was right on a marina with tons of people walking around, fireworks, and live music. Friday we woke up and and had mimosas and breakfast and I opened gifts from my sweet friends. Everyone bought me something with my new monogram on it, I LOVED everything so much! We spent the rest of the day at the beach drinking skinny girl margaritas and getting sun. That night we all wore hot pink tank tops that read " Kaitlyn's last fling before the ring". The shirts were so stinking cute and they even came with matching koozies. ( All made by Preppy in Paradise in Fort Myers Fl). Saturday we shopped, drank sangria, and layed out by the pool. At night we dressed up, and took pictures on the beach. Every detail of the weekend was perfect and I am so blessed to have such great friends!!!!::)))) NOW FOR THE PICS:)

Weekend Fun!

Inspired from Pinterest once again! These were from last weekend but I still thought I would share.I made Guinness chocolate cupcakes with Bailey's buttercreme icing. They were surprisingly good. I made them exactly like the recipe from the blog The Cooking Chronicles.

This past weekend we went to Fort Myers to visit my parents. Friday we spent the day shopping and laying by the pool before we headed to Sur La Table for a cooking class. The theme of the cooking class was sweet and spicy Thai food. Saturday we did the same thing all over again... went to the pool and shopped and then went out to a new Key West Dueling Pianos Bar in town.

Kenny lounging by the pool with his whale visor... :)

Dinner is served!

Boys relaxing.

Happy Hour on the porch.

Picture dump courtesy of the iPhone

Honestly my picture skills are lacking as usual. But I promise to upload some real pictures real soon. As soon as I figure out how to work my new camera. Kenny and I have both been busy the last few months. Kenny got a part time job at the Shands cancer center doing some kind of financial research something or other...? and I have been busy cuddling with the two new additions to the family I work for. We are in the process of relocating ourselves to to the other side of Gainesville to a condo/town home in a really cute family neighborhood. More suitable for walking Sally, and less chances of drunk college students screaming outside our apartment at 4 am in the morning. Other than that Kenny and I are still here, living our less than exciting life as G-Ville folks.

Honestly these things were delicious and need to become a staple in the Oreo cookie line. Kenny thought that they weren't that good, but he then ate the whole box... Hmmm.

Our new favorite go-to to-go sushi place, Bento. So yummy, and nice when you want sushi but don't feel like going "out" to dinner.

Found this idea on Pinterest and made them for my favorite boy's 2nd Birthday. They were actually really easy and turned out really cute!

Sisters:)

This past weekend was Junior League's Tour of Kitchens. Kenny made sure we got our monies worth by sampling lots of everything, and then sampling again. I swear he has a never ending stomach.

Saturday happy hour cocktails.

Wasting time waiting for our table at Cracker Barrel.

Bridesmaid shoes are in!!:)

New camera. My new obsession that I am trying to learn how to use. Youtube videos have become my new best friend. I watch a few a night, hopefully I can get the hang of it soon!

Happy Hump Day:)

Wedding Wednesday

6 months away!!!!! Can't control my excitement in this house. I usually have a spaz moment about once a day were I freak out and scream in Kenny's ear "WE'RE GETTING MARRIED" . We get more and more checked off our list each day which makes it feel more real.

Here are some up dates:

Flower Girl Dress... Done!
Kenny's niece Katie Rose will be walking down the aisle in this cute little dress. This is just a example of one. Hers will be white with a pink monogram, and she'll wear a big bow in her hair:) Laughing Giraffe is a etsy shop and has really adorable dresses for little girls.

Bridesmaid Shoes... Done!
I picked out these Michael Kors wedges in silver. I had never thought of wedges before, but saw them in a picture on a wedding blog and thought it was really cute.

Dress for Wedding Reception
I want to keep my dress on for the majority of the night but I have ordered a dress because I know I am going to be super hot... and my dress is heavy so I bought a dress similar to this, mine is being custom made so I wont get to know want it really looks like until it gets here, but I am positive it will perfect. LaRouque is a great company and was so nice to work with, can't wait to get mine!

Bridal Luncheon
I have almost everything together for this, just have to work out minor details with the caterer, and get invitations, and finalize decorations.

Hair and Makeup, Booked!
Our wedding planner referred both of these and I pulled the trigger and booked both. Randi Buchanan is doing makeup for the entire wedding party, and  for my Mom and I! Her services include airbrushing, false eye lashes, and all day assistance. So right before I walk down the aisle she will be right there touching me up... So excited for that! A local salon Green Paridot will be doing hair, I am so excited to start doing test runs in July, if only I can decide how I want my hair for the wedding... I am really leaning toward half up half down, but with the heat of August it might end all up.

MOG & MOB dresses, Check!

Still to tackle:
cake tasting
order ties for groomsmen
a million other little things....

I am having Kenny's step dad "build" me and few things and then Kenny's mom who is a professional painter is going to paint some signs and such for the wedding reception.

Things to make:
"Here comes the bride" sign
Chalkboard Menu Sign
Wooden Sign for the front of our venue
Moss Letters

what's new

Sorry for my lack of blogging, I have been having some sort of writers block. Nothing too exciting has been going on with us so I haven't found much to write about. Just a few random things...

Last weekend Kenny and I drove over to Jacksonville to get my new baby. I refer to him as "Mr. Louis" . Kenny has already threaten to throw Mr. Louis out the window because I am so obsessed with him. I think that he is just jealous he doesn't have a Louis. This is him.. Aint he pretty?:)

Another recent purchase is my new Kate Spade Wedges. I got these for such a amazing deal couldn't I pass them up? I have had the same wedges for years so it was time for a new pair. I wear out my wedges in the summer so I am hoping these are durable!

I made this chicken chili out of the Southern Living January issue and it was so yummy. I was not sure about the mango avocado salsa that you put on the top of the chili, but it made the chili! I am going to make the salsa again for fish and chicken.

Tomorrow Kenny and I are off to Sarasota for my MOH's engagement party! I am so excited for her and and her fiance Jimmy:)

Kelly got engaged a couple days before Christmas, this was the cute santa ornament I got her with the dat of her engagement.

I'm off to pack! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend:)

Chicken Pot Pie

Last week Kenny happened to be flipping through last months Southern Living magazine and found a recipe for Chicken Pot pie that he asked me to make. I had gotten all the ingredients for it over the weekend but kept putting it off to make because I have never had chicken pot pie but it just doesn't sound good. The recipe was found in the January issue of Southern Living. I decided tonight I would make it, and it ended up being so good! Kenny talked about how good it was for like 2 hours... So I guess it's a keeper recipe:)

The picture in the Southern Living Magazine

Mine:)

Recipie
  • CHICKEN PIE FILLING
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Creole seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • large sweet onion, diced
  • (8-oz.) package sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 4 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 2 cups frozen cubed hash browns
  • 1 cup matchstick carrots
  • 1 cup frozen small sweet peas
  • 1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • PASTRY CRUST
  • (14.1-oz.) package refrigerated piecrusts
  • egg white
  • Preparation
  • 1. Prepare Filling: Preheat oven to 350°. Melt 1/3 cup butter in a large saucepan over medium heat; add all-purpose flour, and cook, whisking constantly, 1 minute. Gradually add chicken broth and milk, and cook, whisking constantly, 6 to 7 minutes or until thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat, and stir in Creole seasoning.
  1. 2. Melt 2 Tbsp. butter in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat; add onion and mushrooms, and sauté 10 minutes or until tender. Stir in chicken, next 4 ingredients, and sauce.
  2. 3. Prepare Crust: Place 1 piecrust in a lightly greased 10-inch cast-iron skillet. Spoon chicken mixture over piecrust, and top with remaining piecrust.
  3. 4. Whisk egg white until foamy; brush top of piecrust with egg white. Cut 4 to 5 slits in top of pie for steam to escape.
  4. 5. Bake at 350° for 1 hour to 1 hour and 5 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly

*** I don't have a cast iron skillet so I just used a pie plate.
